A deposit will be required at the time of registration. This deposit is applied to the cost of the program. Payment of the balance due is required no later than 60 days prior to the start of the program. API considers the registration cancelled if full payment has not been received by 60 days prior to the program start date. We suggest that you register as early as possible, as all of our programs have limited space available and many fill quickly.
Note - Registrations received within 60 days of the start of a program require immediate full payment.
We accept payment by credit card (Visa, Mastercard and American Express) or check. Your space in a program is considered held at the time we receive payment from you. We cannot hold space in a program for those paying their deposit by check until the check has been received by us.
If a program becomes filled, we maintain a waiting list in case of cancellations. We recommend that you put your name on the waiting list as cancellations do happen and, due to the popularity of some programs, it may be the only way to acquire a space.
The cost associated with our programs is listed on the web page for the specific program. Unless otherwise noted, cost includes instruction only. Lodging, transportation and meals are generally not included. A deposit is required to hold a space in a program.
Currently available discount programs can be seen here.

Participant Release Form
At the start of the program, participants are required to sign a release indicating that they have read and understand the terms of the Participant Acknowledgment and Assumption of Risks and Release and Indemnity Agreement. Individuals who do not sign the release will not be allowed to participate in the program and will not receive any refund.
We encourage participants to purchase refundable airline tickets and trip cancellation insurance to protect against unforeseen circumstances.
In most cases participants are responsible for making their own lodging arrangements. The suggested lodging provider is listed on the web page for each specific program.
It is very important to reserve lodging as quickly as possible after registering for a program as accommodations in most of our program locations can become quite scarce as the program date approaches.
In most cases participants are responsible for the cost of their meals during the program. We encourage program participants to eat as a group (with the instructor), sharing the events of the day and getting to know each other a little better, as we believe this makes for a more enjoyable and productive experience. With this in mind, we choose program locations that offer on-site meal facilities wherever practical. If there is a meal plan available at additional cost for your program, we highly recommend that you take advantage of it.
Please note: If you have special dietary needs please make them known to our staff when you register for an event so that we can work with our vendors to ensure your needs are met.
Participants’ vehicles are used for transportation during field trips. We will carpool when possible to minimize the number of vehicles needed for any given field trip, as well as to lessen our impact on easily damaged roads and trails.
Note that our instructors are not allowed to provide transportation to participants during our events.
Field trips and classroom sessions (including lectures, presentations, critiques, etc.) are for paid program participants only and are not open to any guests. However, spouses/partners are welcome to take meals with the group. Just inform the restaurant or workshop venue on arrival that there will be an extra guest for meals and pay at that time.
The use of video or audio recording devices during classroom sessions is not permitted.
