Registration Information

To register for a program

You must call us at (216) 531-2155. We do not have online registration at this time.

A deposit will be required at the time of registration. This deposit is applied to the cost of the program. Payment of the balance due is required 60 days prior to the start of the program. API considers the registration cancelled if full payment has not been received by 60 days prior to the program start date. We suggest that you register as early as possible, as all of our programs have limited space available and many fill quickly.

We accept payment by check or credit card (Visa, Mastercard and American Express).

Note - Registrations received within 60 days of the start of the program require immediate full payment.

If a program becomes filled, we maintain a waiting list in case of cancellations. We recommend that you put your name on the waiting list as cancellations do happen and, due to the popularity of some programs, it may be the only way to acquire a space.

Program Cost

The cost associated with our programs is listed on the web page for the specific program. Unless otherwise noted, cost includes instruction only. Lodging, transportation and meals are generally not included. A deposit is required to hold a space in a program.

Discount Programs

Currently available discount programs can be seen here. Unless otherwise noted discounts cannot be combined.

Participant Cancellation and Refund Policy

If you must cancel your program registration, please notify API as quickly as possible to ensure the most favorable treatment under our refund policy.

Refunds are given under the following conditions:

  • if cancellation is received at least 60 days prior to the start of the program, we will refund all funds received from you, less a $50 cancellation fee.
  • if cancellation is received less than 60 days, but at least 30 days prior to the start of the program, we will refund all funds received from you, less the registration deposit.

There are no refunds given under any circumstances if:

  • cancellation is received within 30 days of the start of the program.
  • cancellation is received after the start of the program.
  • the registered participant is a no-show.
  • the anticipated weather or other conditions beyond our control do not meet the hopes of the participants.

Program Cancellation

API reserves the right to cancel any program that does not meet minimum participation requirements. If we must cancel a program, this is done no later than two weeks prior to the start of the program, participants are informed as soon as possible, and all money received will be refunded within 30 days of the date of cancellation.

API is not responsible for any losses incurred as a result of a program cancellation. This includes deposits paid to lodging providers, who may have their own cancellation policies. For this reason we recommend trip insurance.

Travel/Trip Insurance

We encourage participants to purchase refundable airline tickets and trip cancellation insurance.

Lodging

In most cases participants are responsible for making their own lodging arrangements. The suggested lodging provider is listed on the web page for each specific program.

It is very important to reserve lodging as quickly as possible after registering for a program as accommodations in most of our program locations can become quite scarce as the program date approaches.

Meals

In most cases participants are responsible for the cost of their meals during the program. We encourage program participants to eat as a group (with the instructor), sharing the events of the day and getting to know each other a little better, as we believe this makes for a more enjoyable and productive experience. With this in mind, we choose program locations that offer on-site meal facilities wherever practical. If there is a meal plan available at additional cost for your program, we highly recommend that you take advantage of it.

Transportation

Participants’ vehicles are used for transportation during field trips. We will carpool when possible to minimize the number of vehicles needed for any given field trip, as well as to lessen our impact on easily damaged roads and trails.

Note that our instructors are not allowed to provide transportation to participants during our events.

Spouses and Partners

Field trips and classroom sessions (including lectures, presentations, critiques, etc.) are for paid program participants only and are not open to any guests. However, spouses/partners are welcome to take meals with the group. Just inform the restaurant or workshop venue on arrival that there will be an extra guest for meals and pay at that time.
